Students who do not have access to the internet or need a device to take exams
AP EXAM INFORMATION FOR 2020 (Exam Dates are May 11th-22nd)
Technology
Every student will receive an electronic ticket to take the exam via email and their AP Classroom account. (If students have used a school or district issued email address that blocks emails coming from outside their school or district in their College Board account, they won’t be able to receive emails from College Board—including access to the online exams.)
Students need to allow at least 30 minutes before the exam for set up.
Students can take exams on computers, tablets, or smart phones. Students can type the exam or write it and take a picture of their responses. Lockdown browsers will not be used.
Students are allowed to print prompts and documents to have a hard copy to annotate.
Students can have more than one window open on their computer (for example, they can have a prompt open in one window and write their response in another window.) They also can have two monitors, as long as the monitors are connected to a single computer.
Students who do not have access to the internet or need a device to take exams need to let the College Board know this by Friday, April 24th. College Board is asking them to complete the following form: https://collegeboard.tfaforms.net/74. Furthermore, we (LHS AP Coordinators) are sending out an email to students/parents to complete an AP Exam Access Survey.
Lakeside’s school code is 110184. Students may be required to enter this code to take exams.
Coming in late April: information and video demonstrations on how to access the testing system on test day.
Students who have a legitimate disruption during the day of the exam will be able to take a makeup exam (see below.)
Exam Security/Cheating
The exams are open note tests. College Board acknowledges and approves using notes, textbooks, etc. Using the internet during testing is not recommended, but it is allowed.
College Board has open note test taking tips here: https://apcoronavirusupdates.collegeboard.org/students/open-book-tips
However, any students found using the work of others, exchanging or sharing information on exam topics, collaborating via any online platform, or soliciting tips for problem-solving approaches will be investigated for violating exam security.
Teachers are not expected to be plagiarist experts (when they receive student results soon after testing.) College Board has tools to identify plagiarism, collaboration, and other forms of cheating.
